Art League of Hilton Head’s new exhibition, “The Trees,” features over 50 community artists and highlights the Lowcountry’s native trees and their benefits for our landscapes.
The Trees: A Collaboration between Art League of Hilton Head and Clemson Extension runs from May 20 to May 31. An opening reception will be held Thursday, May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tree talks will also take place on May 23 and May 28 at 3 p.m., discussing our native trees’ importance with a question-and-answer session after each talk.
On Thursday, May 23, Amanda Taylor, a Forestry and Natural Resources Agent with Clemson Extension, will present “How Native Trees Are Good for Wildlife,” sharing the cute, the cuddly and the creepy crawlies, and their benefits versus a typical urban landscape.
On Tuesday, May 28, Glen Payne, an Urban Horticulture Agent with Clemson Extension, will detail the benefits of native trees, their usefulness, and resources for their care.
The exhibit, reception and tree talks are free to attend and open to the public. Art League Academy is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Art League of Hilton Head is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit visual arts organization on Hilton Head Island with a synergistic art gallery and teaching Academy.
Art League Gallery features local artwork in all media created by more than 200 member artists. All artwork on display is for sale and exhibits change every month. Located at 14 Shelter Cove Lane, inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, next to the box office, Art League Gallery is open every day, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Noon to 4 p.m., plus 90 minutes prior to all Arts Center performances.
Art League Academy welcomes artists and students in all media at all skill levels, including true beginners. Taught by professional art educators, students can choose from many art classes and workshops in most media.
