Confederate Railroad
Few acts have carved as distinctive a niche in modern musical history as Confederate Railroad. With their high-energy combination of honky-tonk rockers, sensitive ballads, and offbeat humor, they have created a unique identity that has brought them chart success, multi-platinum sales, and continued popularity as a road band. Versatility, likeability, and a willingness to stretch boundaries are all part of the mix, but if there is a formula, not even they can put their finger on it.
Nearly five million albums later, there is no doubt that they’ve worked out the formula. Songs like “Queen Of Memphis,” “Trashy Women,” “Jesus And Mama,” and “Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind” became major hits and established Confederate Railroad as a key part of country music’s landscape during the genre’s expansion of the ’90s. The accolades kicked off with the Academy of Country Music’s Best New Group award in 1993 and have included a Grammy nomination, and a host of nominations from the Country Music Association and the British Country Music Foundation.
Eddie Bush and the Mayhem
Eddie Bush picked up his first guitar when he was four years old and it was “love at first strum”. Mesmerized by its sound, Eddie spent hours strumming his father’s golf club trade in, and inspired by The Beatles, Elvis, the Osmond Brothers and Glen Campbell, Eddie began to develop his natural singing talent and gift for the guitar at a young age. Barely 12, Eddie discovered the larger-than-life theatrics of KISS and knew then that “there was absolutely no question that music was my calling.”Eddie had formed his first band before he entered junior high school and by the time he was 16, Eddie was playing club dates as lead guitarist and singer with his own original rock bands. With Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen as major influences in the development of his playing style, Eddie committed himself to becoming a great guitar player.Since that time, Eddie has played with some of the most respected musicians in the business, including Eric Johnson, Keith Urban, Ted Nugent, Sammy Hagar, Heart, Alison Krauss, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, .38 Special, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship, Georgia Satellites, Montgomery Gentry, Rick Springfield, Steve Morse, Delbert McClinton, Little River Band, Charlie Daniels, and the late Jeff Healy, among others.
Common Ground, Featuring Alan Bibey
Common Ground is one of Charleston’s longest running bluegrass groups. Blending the traditional sounds of banjo, acoustic guitar and bass with harmonica gives them a unique sound unrivaled in the Lowcountry. Sitting in on mandolin is a special guest for Southern Flame, nationally recognized mandolin player Alan Bibey. Bluegrass aficionados should definitely not miss this chance to see him!
About Alan Bibey
Since first hitting the scene in the early 1980’S, Alan Bibey has made a name for himself as one of the most creative and technically gifted mandolin players in bluegrass and acoustic music. Alan has been nominated for awards each year at SPBGMA (The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America), winning “Mandolin Player Of The Year” for 2007, 2009 and 2010. He has also been nominated at the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Awards and has most recently won for “Album of The Year”, “Instrumental Recording of the Year” and “Recorded Event of the Year. In 2004 The Gibson Company put into production The Alan Bibey Signature Series line of mandolins, reaffirming his status as one of the most influential mandolinists in bluegrass and acoustic music history!
