The 2023 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with South Carolinians in WWII: The Rising Sun. This episode focuses on the early days of the war in the Pacific, from Pearl Harbor through the battle for Guadalcanal and Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s return to the Philippines. The film also features South Carolina Marines and their training on Parris Island and navy veterans’ life at sea.
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.
