Amanda McNulty, producer and host of SCETV's Making It Grow, presents “Rice Culture in South Carolina, Past and Present" Feb. 24.
Rice culture shaped the society and health of freed and enslaved South Carolinians. Today, breeding has brought back the original "Carolina Gold" rice, which at one time gave South Carolina the highest per capita income in the world. Further crosses have introduced even more choices based on the historic standouts.
