Artist and Subject: Mary Whyte and Mary Jackson
to
Gibbes Museum of Art 135 Meeting St., Charleston, South Carolina 29401
A portrait is both a document and a subjective record of the relationship between the artist and the sitter. A likeness may evoke a heightened intimacy between close friends, or pay homage to muses and mentors. Artists Mary Whyte and Mary Jackson will talk with Gibbes Executive Director Angela Mack about Whyte's portrait of Jackson, their relationship and the role of artist and sitter.
This event is presented in partnership with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers and $10 for students/faculty with an ID.
