Terri Cosby, of Chapin, is the winner of the 2022 Who Powers You Contest sponsored by South Carolina’s electric cooperatives. Cosby won $2,500 for the profound impact she made in the Irmo-Chapin community over her 35-year career in public education.
Cosby was among 16 finalists for the Who Powers You Contest—a competition designed to recognize people who are making a positive impression and benefitting members of their local electric cooperative.
“The time I spent in the classroom was extremely rewarding,” said Cosby. “It is so great to be recognized for the things you would do—even if no one was watching.”
Cosby, a member of Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative, was nominated by Mrs. Miriam Cattell Tolbert—a fourth-grade teacher at Chapin Elementary.
“Mrs. Cosby cares so deeply about children and is the most engaging teacher out there,” said Cattell Tolbert. “Her passion for educating youth is inspiring and I am so thankful for her friendship.”
As a former science and math teacher, Cosby’s reputation for fun and engaging lessons is well-known. Prior to her retirement, Cosby served as a coaching teacher for new educators. She continues to volunteer at Chapin Elementary School and tutors students in need of extra help throughout Lexington & Richland School District Five.
