The Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society, Inc. (CHAPS) will again sponsor its Potters on Gaffney’s Old Field Pottery Show and Sale Saturday May 17, 2014 at the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum located at 301 College Drive in Gaffney, S.C. The event will be held from 10.00am until 4:00pm. Admission is $5.00 adults and $1.00 for children 12 and under. There is no set up fee for vendors, however, each of the potters is asked to donate one piece of their work for the auction to be held at 12:00 noon. All proceeds from the event are used to for the operating expenses of CHAPS and the Museum.
This year first timers to the show include Butterfly Creek, Glazed Expressions and Penny Pottery. Of course, our dedicated locals Marjorie Hawthorne, Cynthia Link (with her special cats) and Diane Barnhill will be present with their works. Also attending will be Carol Leedy, basket maker, Sally’s Hand-woven items and Geraldine Smith with original black folk-art.
The pottery show is a day of family fun and an opportunity for locals and out of town guests to experience great art and learn about Cherokee County’s rich history as they tour the Museum.
