In a recent issue, we challenged the readers of South Carolina Living to share photos of their “fur babies.” Here are just a few of our favorites.
Sophie
Our Sophie is a 10-month-old Spinoni Italiano who is the happiest puppy in the world. She never stops wagging her tail! We love her very much and consider her part of our family for sure. —Phil Webb, Fairfield Electric Cooperative
Biscuit and Kayne
Our babydoll sheep were delivered to us at the start of spring. We had been on the wait list for over a year. We didn't have much time to prepare prior to their arrival so these little things lived in the house with diapers and a dog kennel serving as their bed. Finally, we made the pasture and shed for them outside, but they still try to wander back home anytime the gate is ajar. —Heather Leisy, Pee Dee Electric Cooperative
Mokie
Mokie is a full-blood Burmese. He is 5 years old, very verbal and can jump 4 feet straight up. He is extremely cold natured and loves sitting on my lap in a warm blanket. —Billie Mills, Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative
Addie Blu’s pups
Addie is our sweet Blue Heeler that we got when she was a pup. She is now 3½ years old and she recently had some little pups of her own. We couldn't help but take some fall pictures of them. —Lydia Sellman, Little River Electric Cooperative
Molly
We were searching for our first family dog and we knew we wanted a beagle. We rescued Molly from a PAWS facility in Bryson City, North Carolina (we live in Anderson, South Carolina). Molly was eight weeks old when she arrived in our home and she is so much fun. When given the choice of whom or what to obey, she always obeys her nose! —Sandi Diaz, Fairfield Electric Cooperative
Kenai
Kenai is a 5-year-old lab mix. She became a part of my life when she was just 6 weeks old. Someone had dumped her on the side of the road. She was hungry, hurt and scared when I found her. One look and I knew she was destined to be in my life. She's been by my side through college, getting married, joining the military, having a baby and countless moves. I couldn't ask for a better best friend. —Jessica Coop, Black River Electric Cooperative
Shelby
I saw her on a website from the animal shelter. My Maltese had passed away a couple of years earlier and I knew I had to have another puppy to make me whole again. Once I saw Shelby's photo, I called my husband. It was late Friday afternoon near closing time. He got there and called me. “Come on up, you have got to see her,” he said. I knew then I would not leave that shelter without her. —Joyce Cain, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative
Oliver
Oliver was an abused dog we adopted from a shelter. At the time he was so ugly he was adorable—like the ugly duckling to the swan. He is the love of my life. —John Kouchinsky, Santee Electric Cooperative
