Gravatt is in the path of totality of the upcoming total solar eclipse. To celebrate, Gravatt will host a day of family fun, which will include swimming, ziplining, education, food, pony rides and, of course, eclipse watching. Eclipse glasses will be sold on the day of the event for $3. In addition, there will be an art contest on the day of the event for grades 1-12. The grades will be divided, with a $25 prize for each group: 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
Entrance is $10 per car, $25 per 15-passenger van, and $40 per bus. Some activities, like ziplining, cost a small additional fee. Overnight accommodations, which include breakfast and admission to the event, are $100 for a lodge room, $75 for a cottage room, $20 per person camp side and $15 per person for tent camping. This event is in partnership with Ruth Patrick Science Education Center. Reservations are not required for the event, only for overnight accommodations.
