The Tish Oney Jazz Orchestra at Centre Stage

The GVL Jazz Big Band Series and Centre Stage present The Tish Oney Jazz Orchestra in a 90-minute concert presentation of classic jazz, film, Broadway and contemporary jazz at the black box theatre, Centre Stage, March 30 at 8 p.m.

The concert program is comprised of standards by Gershwin, Mancini, Rodgers, Ellington and others in addition to contemporary compositions by Greenville artist, bandleader, arrangerand composer Dr. Tish Oney. The band is comprised of 18 world-class soloists, and performed as a headlining ensemble to kick off the inaugural jazz festival in downtown Greenville in 2023. For the past few decades Dr. Oney has maintained a touring performance career as an in-demand jazz singer, bandleader, arranger, composer, and music educator around the world.

The concert program will feature music that hails from both the large ensemble and the small combo traditions, highlighting a variety of soloists within the larger ensemble to provide maximum contrast, diversity of styles and audience enjoyment throughout the evening’s performance.
