Chamber Music Charleston is delighted to announce a spectacular opening concert for the 2024-2025 season, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The program, titled "Tango Meets Classical," will feature internationally acclaimed guitarist Jason Vieaux and virtuoso violinist Francisco Fullana alongside CMC musicians Jenny Weiss (violin), Ben Weiss (viola) and Timothy O’Malley (cello).
The concert will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, 3 p.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 405 King Street.
This unique program will explore the rich sonorities of dance music, tracing its origins in Spain through the vibrant tangos of South America. Audiences will be treated to Luigi Boccherini’s “Fandango” Guitar Quintet from 1788 and Astor Piazzolla’s 1986 composition “L’Histoire du Tango,” which vividly captures the evolution of tango music through the decades.
Tickets start at $8 for students and parents, and $25 for general audiences.
