Sustainable Landscaping: SC Native Plant Certificate Core Class
to
South Carolina Botanical Garden 150 Discovery Lane, Clemson, South Carolina 29634
Join instructor Rick Huffman, ASLA, Earth Design, SCNPS, to explore how to design with nature and how native plants are essential characters in functioning ecological landscapes. The course provides a holistic perspective of land ethic values that will frame how and why native plants work in our landscapes.
The course will connect time, geology, soils, water and plant communities to design landscapes that work together with nature. Participants will learn how designing with nature begins by reviewing applications of native plants in parks, streetscapes, museums and specifically residential landscapes that are beautiful and low maintenance. Discover how to plant for wildlife, particularly pollinators and how to choose native replacements for exotic and/or invasive species.
The SC Native Plant Studies Certificate Program is offered by the SCBG in partnership with the South Carolina Native Plant Society. Discount available to SCNPS and SCBG members. See details below.
The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the SC Botanical Garden Conference Center, upper level.
Please Note: All classes are open to the public. If you would like to pursue the South Carolina Native Plant Certificate Program, all core classes plus 4 electives are required for completion.
