From Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, the Steel Wheels roll a straightforward Americana sound onto the McCelvey Center stage. All four members of the band grew up in Mennonite families, nurturing them to create piping harmonies, lyrical poetry-based lyrics, and a rootsy string-band style. At the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards, their tune "Nothing You Can't Lose" hailed as Best Country Song, while "Working on a Building" won Best Gospel Song in the fan-determined category. The quartet’s tenth album, “Wild as We Came Here,” was released in May 2017 and is the band’s first recording to include keyboards and drums.
