South Carolina Peanut Party
to
Pelion Community Center 951 Pine St., Pelion, South Carolina
The 35th annual South Carolina Peanut Party celebrates "peanuts...for the good life." The festival will be held at Pelion Community Center on Friday, Aug. 12, from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The event begins with the Blessing of the Pots on Friday at 5 p.m. On Saturday, entertainment begins with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by festival events including Palmetto Amusement rides, entertainment, car show, Peanutty Recipe contest, crafts, exhibitors, festival food, and, of course, lots of boiled peanuts.
The peanut-butter-and-jelly-sandwich-eating contest draws big crowds (the record is 8.5 sandwiches in three minutes), and you can cool off in our frozen T-shirt contest. The big stage showcases entertainment including local gospel groups, high school musicians, as well as the Funky Mofos on Saturday afternoon and Steele Justice on Saturday evening.
There is no entry fee; no alcohol, pets or golf carts are allowed. Boiled peanuts, grown in South Carolina, will be boiled and sold by the Pelion Ruritan organization.
