Native American Celebration
Hagood Mill Historic Site and Folklife Center 138 Hagood Mill Road, Pickens, South Carolina 29671
This event celebrates South Carolina's Native American heritage. A number of groups from Catawba to Cherokee are represented, including individuals born and raised here as well as those who have more recently made South Carolina their home. The ancient petroglyphs recently discovered at the Hagood Mill site contribute to our sacred "sense of place," proving ancient Native American cultures have always gathered here and made this waterway their home. We look forward to the South Carolina Rock Art Museum being developed on site and soon to display the site's ancient native rock carvings.
Admission is free; however there will be a $5 parking fee for this rain-or-shine event.
The Hagood Mill will be operating; you can purchase a variety of products. Demonstrators will showcase Appalachian arts and crafts, The Gatehouse will have a selection of food items for sale. It will be a day of fun for all!
