Hungarian National Dance Ensemble presents Land of the Free
The Riviera Theater 227 King Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29401
As part of America’s 250th anniversary, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble will present Land of the Free, a spectacular new production bringing the story of Colonel Michael Kováts de Fabriczy to life through exhilarating dance, authentic Hungarian folk music, vibrant costumes and Revolutionary-era storytelling.
Colonel Michael Kováts de Fabriczy, a remarkable and too often overlooked hero of the American Revolution, was a Hungarian hussar who helped organize and train Pulaski’s Legion, brought European light-cavalry traditions to the American cause and gave his life defending Charleston on May 11, 1779.
Suitable for all ages and admission is free. This is a rare opportunity to experience the story of a foreign-born patriot who made the ultimate sacrifice for American independence—here in the city he died defending.
