The Lakeside journey began when a group of high school students from Ohio formed a band made up of talented musicians and a ferocious stamina that has sustained them for more than 27 years (a feat not many bands can boast about). Formerly known as the Ohio Lakeside Express, their travel has taken throughout the world opening for legends like Redd Foxx, Eddie Kendricks and many others.
There the band produced its first album with SOLAR Records, “Shot of Love.” From this album came the wildly popular “It’s All the Way Live.”
Lakeside's members proved themselves to be fine songwriters, penning such funk gems as "Your Wish Is My Command," "Raid" and their biggest hit, "Fantastic Voyage" (later remade by Coolio). Lakeside also showed itself to be a legitimate soul group, most notably on a wonderfully gritty remake of the Beatles' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," a cut that bore almost no resemblance to the pop classic original but that became one of the great soul songs of 1982.
Throughout their career, the band has been known and loved for an extravagant stage presence and creative album-cover themes. Though time marches on, never ending, this group of musicians never disappoints and continues to two-step its way into the hearts and souls of the crowd.
