Virtual Event Rock Hill, South Carolina
Celebration of freedom for enslaved people, based on the date enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received word of the Emancipation Proclamation in June 1865. Juneteenth has been a national holiday since 1980, and the South Carolina legislature established June 19 as the official “Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom Day.”
Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event is planned as a virtual event to bring historical and cultural awareness to our community while keeping all attendees safe.
