Join us for an unforgettable day at the 11th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park on Hilton Head Island. This will be a community gathering filled with music, culture, food and family-friendly fun. Spend the day “Where Freedom Began” and experience the vibrant spirit of one of the most historic places in the Lowcountry.
Entertainment highlights
- Gospel Music all morning with Marti Baker as our emcee, featuring local and regional choirs, including the Voices of El Shaddai, Youth Choir from First Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bluffton
- A special appearance by Marlena Smalls at the Praise House
- Afternoon Fun beginning at 12:30 pm includes line dancing, karaoke and an old-school dance contest
- Powerhouse singer and songwriter Leela James will close the celebration with a high-energy R&B performance
What to expect
- Local artists and vendors with handmade goods and cultural treasures
- Food Truck Village serving up seafood, tacos, traditional Gullah favorites and frozen treats
- Children’s Corner with crafts, games and a kids’ dance contest
- Complimentary Photo Booth and Staged Photo Opportunities to capture memories
- Community Village with nonprofit organizations offering local resources
Lawn chairs and refillable water bottles are welcome. No coolers, outside food or alcohol permitted.

Park at nearby Historic Churches on Beach City Road or Barker Field. Free shuttle service is provided throughout the day.
