Historic Brattonsville 1444 Brattonsville Road, McConnells, South Carolina 29726
Celebrate the Carolina Piedmont’s agricultural heritage with fall festivities at Historic Brattonsville’s Harvest on the Homestead.
The living history farm bustles about in 19th century-style harvest-time activities in preparation for winter. Children of all ages can play old-fashioned games, join in on hands-on activities and visit the barnyard animals. Historically dressed interpreters stoke up the open-hearth fire for seasonal dishes like corn cakes, forced pumpkin and apple fritters; preservation demonstrations include the makings of apple butter, pressing cider and pickling eggs. The wood shop and blacksmith forge will be buzzing with the production of bits and bobs. Historic preservation tours show what it takes to keep the doors open for Brattonsville’s architectural and cultural history.
