to
McCelvey Center 212 East Jefferson St., York, South Carolina 29745
Traditional Piedmont music will be showcased during two double-feature concerts at the McCelvey Center’s Lowry Theater this summer. The Grand Old McCelvey Concert Series will highlight local Carolina talent, giving way to blugrass, folk, hillbilly, gospel, and the blues. On Saturday, July 26 local musician/musician historian Hunter Holmes will take the stage followed by the Spartanburg-based Mill Billy Blues Band. For Saturday, August 16, bluegrass champions – the Hinson Girls will be followed by the legendary Briarhoppers. The Grand Ole McCelvey Concert series is a tribute to the Culture and Heritage Museums’ commitment to preserving the history of the Piedmont, and is helping to keep early folk music alive, as well as making it available to audiences in the 21st century.
Tickets are available for advance purchase for $10 at the Museum of York County or the Historical Center of York County, or they can be purchased at the door.
