to
Charleston Museum 360 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29403
Join local artist Jennifer York for an introduction to sketching workshop at the Charleston Museum. Using items from the Museum’s collection as inspiration, York will teach sketching from direct observation in both pencil and pen, enlivened by colored and watercolor pencils. Participants will walk away from this workshop with multiple smaller practice sketches and one larger final sketch. This workshop is open to beginners and participants of all skill levels, age 13 and up. All supplies and equipment provided.
The Charleston Museum is home to an extensive ornithology collection including taxidermy mounts, eggs, nests and study skins collected by both early and contemporary naturalists. This April, participants will explore the Bunting Natural History Gallery, drawing inspiration from the vivid colors, forms and details of the Museum’s bird mounts as they bring their sketches to life.
