In 2021, Karla Harris was a main stage performer for the Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Callanwolde Jazz series, the Falany PAC and the Siletz Bay Music Festival (Oregon). She recently performed for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration the Neranenah concert series, presented as part of the Arts Across America live performance series, and she just completed a highly coveted Jazz Road 2022 summer tour in North and South Carolina, which was underwritten by a grant through the South Arts foundation. This busy year also included performances at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, Touhill Center in St. Louis, the Newport Bay Jazz festival in Oregon, the Boca Grande Jazz series in Florida and the Roswell Jazz and Blues festival.
She will be performing her latest album, Certain Elements, a suite of original music and cover tunes that joins together her influences of contemporary jazz, Latin, swing and blues. The album charted on the prestigious Jazz Week chart. Renowned O’s Place Jazz Newsletter gave the CD a rating of “96,” making it the #1 rated CD in their 25th anniversary edition of all new releases, and wrote, “Harris is a jazz vocalist with exceptional talent that surfaces like a beautiful ballet dancer on Certain Elements.” The album’s first single, a lush remake of the ‘60s hit “Cherish,” is played on contemporary jazz radio around the globe and has been featured on Dave Koz’s SiriusXM syndicated program, The Dave Koz Lounge. Three tracks from the CD were added to SiriusXM Radio’s Real Jazz channel.
