Colonial Times: "A Day to Remember"
to
Living History Park 299 W. Spring Grove Ave., North Augusta, South Carolina 29841
Each year, Olde Towne sponsors Colonial Times: A Day To Remember, a two-day event that draws people from all over the Southeast and beyond. The reputation of Olde Towne reenactments and living exhibits has spread beyond the limits of Aiken County. Members have participated in such varied events as the grand opening of the Augusta-Richmond County Museum, the reenactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina, Walnut Grove Plantation in Roebuck, South Carolina, the 200th Anniversery of the Ezekiel Harris Historic House, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Beech Island Heritage Day.
Watch our colonial past come to life through demonstrations and living exhibits. Featured attractions include hornsmithing, pottery, a tomahawk throw, butter churning, weaving and spinning, quilting, candle making, scrimshaw, pewterer, musket firing demonstrations, calligraphy, gunsmithing, blacksmithing, woodworking, and meat smoking and curing.
Be sure to stop by and visit with the Indian traders, the Backwoodsmen, the Sutlers, the Milliner, the Tavern Keeper, the Alchemist, and pet the animals! Dance master Dana Cheney will call colonial dance on both days. Please join in and learn how to do Hole in the Wall, Christ Church Bells, Duke of Kent Waltz, and others. Dance times will be posted at the Barn.
