The Bulls Bay Nature Festival - From the Forest to the Sea - brings the people of the Lowcountry together in a big way for an outdoor celebration of nature and community. Federal, state and local agencies and organizations, town municipalities, schools, musicians and artists join forces for a third year to encourage people of all ages to get outside and enjoy nature-based activities during this one-day event. A diverse array of outdoor activities will take place at Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, Francis Marion National Forest, Hampton Plantation State Historic Site, Bishop Jerden Conference Center, and at the Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center.
The festival offers kayaking and paddle boarding, bird, butterfly, wildflower and other nature walks and tours, archery, and a family bike trip. Live raptor, reptile and endangered Red wolf presentations will occur at the Sewee Center as well as pond fishing workshops for kids and families. Cultural events include sweetgrass basketry, Native American shell ring and tar kiln tours. A photography workshop and wildlife art exposition will be at the Sewee Center as well as music and food throughout the day. Dr. Richard Porcher, noted field biologist, author and professor emeritus of The Citadel, will deliver the festival Keynote, presenting "Botanical Potpourri".
The Festival is free of charge, made possible by the generous support of festival partners and sponsors. Find more about the festival as it approaches on www.facebook.com/bullsbaynaturefestival.
