Bierkeller Fasching

Columbia’s Original Riverfront Brewery and Biergarten, Bierkeller Columbia, will hold its annual Fasching (German Mardi Gras) party starting Friday, Feb. 21, from 4 until 9 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 22, from noon until 7 p.m. Now in its second year, Bierkeller’s Fasching celebration is all about ushering in the Lenten season in the most fun way possible--with lots of bier, food and music.

Each day will have its own traditional theme. Friday, Feb. 21, will be Weiberfastnacht-- Ladies Night. Or Witches Night. Or a combination of both. Ladies enjoy discounted drinks and apps. Music by Columbia's own DJ Irv. Doors open at 4 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 22 will feature a Fasching Costume Garten Party. Costume contests. Bier (and lots of it). Kids’ activities. Live music. Food specials, including Frikadellen (minced meat patties), Schweinesteaks (marinated and grilled pork steaks) and sharable party platters. The event is free to attend and opens at noon.

Various vendors will be on hand from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Music, sodas, non-alcoholic beers, wines, Glühwein and hot chocolate also will be available. Fire pits and heaters when it’s cold. And the Bierhall will be decorated in harlequin colors.
