The South Carolina Native Plant Studies Certificate Program is offered by the SCBG in partnership with the South Carolina Native Plant Society.
Do you want to learn more about plants and their biology? This introductory course develops a foundation of knowledge and a working vocabulary for gardeners and others interested in plants. Explore the basics of plants: classification, structure, functions, lifecycle, reproduction strategies and communities. The class includes classroom lectures and hands-on activities.
Instructors are Jeff Beacham, ecologist and SCNPS State Board of Directors President Emeritus and Kate Farrah, botany instructor. As part of the class materials, you will receive the following books: , Botany for Gardeners by Brian Capon and Plant Terminology: An Illustrated Guide by James G. Harris and Melinda Woolf Harris,, plus additional materials.
The class will be held in the S.C. Botancial Garden Conference Center, upper level.
Discount available to SCNPS and SCBG members.
All classes are open to the public. If you would like to pursue the South Carolina Native Plant Certificate Program, all core classes plus four electives are required for completion.
