Another Sojourner Looking for Truth--Lecture and Book Signing with Dr. Millicent Brown
to
Charleston Museum 360 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29403
The Charleston Museum is pleased to host Dr. Millicent Brown on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. for a lecture and book signing as part of its Fall lecture series. The presentation is centered around Brown’s recently released memoir, Another Sojourner Looking for Truth, which is part history and part coming-of-age story. In describing racial, economic and social dynamics of her youth as a Charleston native involved in multiple civil rights activities, she expands her interpretation of those experiences as she moved throughout the country, over many decades, as the concept of “freedom” for Black Americans transformed. A reflection of current efforts for “equality” rounds out the discussion.
This special event is free and open to the public and will begin in the Museum’s Arthur M. Wilcox Auditorium with a presentation, followed by a brief Q&A segment. Afterward, a reception will be held in the Museum’s lobby where guests may have copies of Another Sojourner Looking for Truth signed by the author. Books will be available for purchase.
