Prince George Winyah Episcopal is celebrating its 70th annual Spring Plantation Tours in Georgetown, S.C., on March 31 and April 1, 2017. The tours are always popular with decorators, Southern history buffs, gardeners and visitors to South Carolina's coast.
Georgetown, South Carolina, founded in 1729, was for two centuries one of the wealthiest areas in both the Colonial era, then in the young United States. The growing of indigo in Colonial America, then rice in the 19th century, created an elite society which left behind beautiful dwellings, gardens and public buildings, many of which are open to our visitors only once a year.
