6th Lowcountry Rockin' the Pink Breast Cancer Walk

It will be a sea of Pink as Bluffton Firefighters' Auxiliary hosts its 6th Lowcountry Rockin' the Pink Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, October 3. The three mile walk is held at Red Cedar Elementary School in Bluffton. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m., with the walk immediately following. This year’s walk will include vendors, food, drinks, and a silent auction with a variety of items. Now is the time to make your plans for this fun-filled day!
Registration is $20 before September 30 and $25 aft3er and on walk day. You can register online at rockinthepink.weebly.com, or beginning at 7:30 a.m. on walk day. You can also register at Pack Pick-Up on Thursday, October 1 from 5 – 9 p.m. at Jim N Nick’s on Fording Island Road. Prizes will be awarded to teams of five or more for most additional money raised, most team spirit, most members of team present on walk day, oldest walker, and best costume. Shirts will be available for purchase for $10.
In the first five years, the Bluffton Firefighters’ Auxiliary raised over $51,000 for local breast cancer organizations. This money helps women battling the disease and it also provides means for mammograms, screenings, and tests for uninsured and underinsured women.
Walk sponsors include Hilton Head Hospital, Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Hilton Head Automotive, Pinnacle Plastic Surgery, Mikkelson Law Firm, Captain Woody’s Restaurant, Hargray Communications, Lowcountry Breast Cancer Survivors, Jim N Nicks, Reichenback Chevrolet, 104.9 Radio, and others. Volunteers and donations to the silent auction are always needed. All donations can be mailed to the Bluffton Township Fire District headquarters, Attn: Leslie Jones Hart, Breast Cancer Walk, 357 Fording Island Road, Okatie, SC 29909, or they can be delivered in-person.
