Held annually on the fourth Saturday in August, Summerfest has been recognized at the South Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel as the Most Outstanding Festival of the Year in a community between 5,000 and 15,000, as well as by the Southeast Tourism Society for its Top 20 Events calendar, and by the Olde English District as its Attraction of the Year in 1996.
Hosted by the Greater York Chamber of Commerce and the City of York, the 32nd Summerfest will take place Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, in Historic York, SC, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A juried craft and food festival, featuring only handmade crafts and an array of delicious foods, with over 120 craft/art vendors and food vendors, will be located in the center of York’s business district. Downtown businesses, nonprofit agencies and other organizations will be on hand to share information about their products and services. Featured attractions include one of the largest regional car shows; sports tournaments in golf, tennis and road races including a 5K and Fun Runs; musical entertainment at three stages;the BMX Stunt Team; a health clinic with over 30 separate medical services for all ages and groups; children’s activities and coloring contest; robotics demonstrations; zip line; monster water ball; Country Showdown competition; giant scale-model airplane fly-in; 4-H petting zoo, inflatables; and climbing wall.
