"Romare Bearden: Beat of a Different Drum"

This exhibit will feature the only children’s book ever written and illustrated by Bearden, "Li’l Dan, the Drummer Boy: A Civil War Story." The exhibition will include 26 original watercolors from the book, text panels with audio narration by the late legendary poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou, in addition to other didactic elements. It is suitable for all ages. As part of the Arts Council's Black History Month programming, this highly anticipated, six-week exhibition will include artistic performances, lectures and school tours in conjunction with the dynamic exhibition. This event is free to the public.
