"Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America" is an exhibit provided by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, which brings exhibits curated by the Smithsonian Institution to small towns. The exhibit opens Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The exhibit runs Nov. 3 through Dec. 12. The opening on Nov. 3 includes a sponsors tailgate party that is open to the public. Other events in conjunction with the exhibit include:
Tuesday, Nov. 3:
• Parade: Local sports teams are invited to participate in a parade from Pocotaligo Plaza to Weldon Auditorium prior to the sponsors tailgate, which runs 5 to 7 p.m.
• Sponsors tailgate, official grand opening and documentary premiere: 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3. Open to the public. Sponsors are invited to set up tables or vehicles and provide food. For more information, about becoming a sponsor, please contact the Clarendon County Archives at (803) 435-0328.
• Students from various Clarendon County schools have been working on a documentary of sports in Clarendon County. Join us for the premiere inside Weldon Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Exhibit hours:
Weldon Auditorium will be open to the public to view "Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America" on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Saturday, Dec. 12. Local exhibit:
The Clarendon County History Museum will feature an exhibit of local sports legends, school sports, support teams and other sports-related memorabilia. This exhibit will also open on Nov. 3 and will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that day. The museum exhibit will be open to the public during the regular operating hours: Thursdays and Fridays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
