Hives & Honey
Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site 181 Redcliffe Road, Beech Island, South Carolina 29842
Join Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site as we explore the fascinating history of hives and honey on Southern plantations – from apiaries kept in the CSRA more than a century ago to the use of honey by enslaved laborers as additions to their regular rations. Local beekeeper Tom Hall will speak about the history of beekeeping and modern methods for beginning and maintaining a healthy hive. The program will include tastings of Hall’s Crinum Honey, available exclusively at Redcliffe Plantation, and a tour of the historic grounds.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for S.C. seniors and children ages 6-16. Receive $2 off individual admission with a donation of two or more pounds of prepackaged or canned food.
