First Day Hike at Rivers Bridge State Historic Site
to
Rivers Bridge State Historic Site 325 State Park Road, Ehrhardt, South Carolina 29081
Start your New Year's resolution out on the right foot and hit a state park trail. Join a ranger at Rivers Bridge State Historic Site and walk in the footsteps of Civil War soldiers. Take an easy two-mile hike from the Memorial Grounds to the battlefield. See the natural beauty of the Salkehatchie Swamp and hear how the soldiers endured bad weather during the battle that took place in February 1865. We'll hope for beautiful weather, but if it's a little nasty, come out anyway. At least nobody's shooting cannons at you!
The hike is free. Make sure to bring water, binoculars, insect repellent, hiking shoes, and a camera, if you desire. Make sure to dress for the weather. A Civil War exhibit will be available at the community building for anyone who is interested.
