Firefly Watch

Cape Fear Botanical Garden 536 N. Eastern Blvd., Fayetteville, North Carolina 28301
Fireflies have always brightened summer evenings, but in recent years their populations have dwindled. You can help scientists discover why our fireflies are disappearing by becoming a citizen scientist. In this hands-on evening program, learn about fireflies, how and why they glow, and two easy projects that you can participate in to help scientists learn more about fireflies in the area. Come prepared to collect and observe fireflies; bring a flashlight and wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Program led by Chris Goforth, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Reserve your spot early using the capefearbg.org calendar.
