About the band
Blyss is a four-piece band formed in 2014. Lance Williams (vocals, lead guitar) and Stephen Staley (drums, vocals) are Camden natives and have played together in bands for a number of years. Bradley “Brad” Bolton (vocals and rhythm guitar) and Ken Swartz (vocals, keyboard, and bass) hail from Columbia.
“We came up with the name Blyss by using our names — Brad, Lance, Staley and Swartz,” says band member Stephen Staley. “People ask why we used a ‘Y’ instead of an ‘I’ for the middle letter, and we always respond ‘Y’ not! We each make up a part of the band with our name as well as our musicianship. We play together and blend into a great band just like our names blend into a great band name.
“We are looking forward to playing Finally Friday this month. We play a variety of different genres and styles from old to new. Something for all ages to enjoy. So tell everyone to come follow their Blyss, and they won’t be disappointed with what they hear.”
Modeled after other successful free concert events around the state, this series is produced by musician and sound technician Kevin Taylor, a 1991 graduate of Full Sail in Florida, who was a sound engineer for country music star Vince Gill for almost 10 years.
