Edwin McCain returns to Lancaster
to
USC-Lancaster Bundy Auditorium 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, South Carolina 29720
Raised in Greenville, SC, McCain cites his early musical influences as the Jackson 5 and other Motown groups, as well as an eventual obsession with the funk act Earth, Wind & Fire. Since his 1993 debut, Edwin McCain has garnered the attention of millions with the top 10 smash "I'll Be," and the top 40 hit "I Could Not Ask For More." McCain is a rootsy singer/songwriter with ties to jazz and soul.
McCain’s proven gift for connecting with listeners on deep emotional levels through his evocative voice and song writing has fuelled a 20 year career. On his latest album, Mercy Bound, that talent is in full flower. On this, his tenth album, McCain has introduced a new dynamic by reconnecting with fellow singer songwriter Maia Sharp (who performed a duet with McCain in 2004). Their ongoing musical interaction over the years continued to grow providing McCain with the ideal opportunity to mix things up. The result is Mercy Bound. Produced by Sharp, the album flows with McCain's unmistakable style, yet hints at a newfound sense of collaboration and interpretation. Providing additional artistic input are songwriters Angie Aparo, Mark Addison, Anders Osborne and the guitar talents of Warren Haynes.
