25th Annual Lowcountry Cajun Festival

The Lowcountry Cajun Festival is known for its food and its music, and this year’s 25th anniversary celebration, on April 3 at James Island County Park, is sure to deliver with a performance by a Zydeco legend, Buckwheat Zydeco.
Cajun Fest is a full-day of Zydeco music, Cajun and Creole foods, children’s activities and entertainment at James Island County Park. Festivities run from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 3. Local and regional chefs will cook up a variety of mouth-watering Cajun and Creole foods and Lowcountry favorites.
In addition to fantastic food choices and the annual crawfish-eating contest, this event is known for its music. Non-stop Zydeco music performed live throughout the day will keep hips swingin’ and toes tappin’. This year’s three featured musical acts will be Shrimp City Slim, Sidewalk Zydeco and the legendary Buckwheat Zydeco.
Other festivities at the Lowcountry Cajun Festival include a crafts market, souvenirs for sale, mechanical rides and jump castles for kids.
Admission to the Lowcountry Cajun Festival is $15. The event is free for ages 12 and under with a paying adult. Current Gold Pass holders are also admitted free. Gold Passes will not be sold on site the day of the festival, but may be purchased in advance at CharlestonCountyParks.com. No coolers or outside alcohol permitted. Carpooling is highly encouraged. Pets are not permitted to this event. The dog park at James Island County Park will be closed on April 3 in order to host the festival.
